AVON, Colo. (Oct. 19, 2015) – East West Resorts Beaver Creek, Falcon Point Resort, Poste Montane Lodge and The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain are thrilled to share that they were honored last week at the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment’s 2015 Environmental Leadership Awards.
East West Resorts Beaver Creek and Poste Montane Lodge were honored as Gold Leaders, Falcon Point and The Westin Riverfront were honored as a Bronze Achievers.
The Environmental Leadership Program is a statewide environmental recognition and reward program administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Sustainability Program. It recognizes companies for going beyond state and federal environmental regulations and for their continual commitment to environmental improvement. A total of 160 Colorado businesses were recognized.
East West Resorts has long been committed to being a leader in the reduction of environmental impacts by engaging their associations, owners, guests and community through the use of responsible products and sustainable practices. A number of their managed properties – including The Ascent, Eagle Point, Eye Pieces, Falcon Point, Poste Montane Lodge, Vail Spa and The Wren – have been certified by the Vail Valley’s Actively Green program, a partnership with the global non-profit Sustainable Travel. The luxury Westin Riverfront was Colorado’s first resort to achieve LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Wren, the Vail Spa and Falcon Point have also been honored by the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Program, which ranks properties on the number of green practices they have in place, from linen and towel re-use to green roofing. For 2015, the Wren was honored as a Gold Property, the Vail Spa was ranked Silver and Falcon Point was honored as a Bronze Leader. Additionally, the Wren won the Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association “GoodEarthkeeping” Award in 2014 and was awarded the Vail Valley Partnership “Actively Green” Award in 2015.
“We are thrilled to have our properties recognized with this fantastic green accolade from the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment,” said Peter Dann, East West Resorts Executive Vice President and Director of Operations. “East West Resorts continues to implement unique new ways to make all of our lodging properties as eco-friendly as possible, which we know our guests and owners appreciate.”
